Am I a candidate for weight loss surgery?

SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy)

Advanced Weight Loss Surgery for Long-Term Results

Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADI-S) is an advanced bariatric and metabolic procedure that combines a sleeve gastrectomy with an intestinal bypass. The procedure reduces the amount of food the stomach can hold while also changing how food travels through the digestive system.

SADI-S may be an option for patients seeking significant weight loss as a primary bariatric procedure or for select patients who need additional treatment following a previous sleeve gastrectomy.

How Does SADI-S Work?

During SADI-S, the stomach is first reduced to create a smaller, sleeve-shaped stomach. The first portion of the small intestine is then divided just beyond the stomach and connected farther down the intestinal tract.

Unlike procedures that require multiple intestinal connections, SADI-S uses a single intestinal connection, which simplifies the traditional duodenal switch while maintaining both restrictive and metabolic components.

By combining a smaller stomach with an intestinal bypass, SADI-S helps patients eat smaller portions and changes the absorption of calories and nutrients.

Who May Be a Candidate for SADI-S?

SADI-S may be considered for patients who:

  • Have a higher BMI and need significant weight loss
  • Have not achieved adequate weight loss through other methods
  • Have obesity-related health conditions
  • Previously underwent sleeve gastrectomy and experienced inadequate weight loss or weight regain
  • Are committed to lifelong nutrition, vitamin supplementation, and medical follow-up

An evaluation with Dr. Donald Fridley can determine whether SADI-S is an appropriate option based on your health, weight history, previous bariatric procedures, and individual goals.

The Benefits of SADI-S and Is SADI-S Right for You?

SADI-S offers several potential benefits for appropriately selected patients, including significant weight loss, a smaller stomach capacity, metabolic changes that support weight management, and only one intestinal connection. It may also provide another treatment option for certain patients who previously underwent sleeve gastrectomy.

Because SADI-S changes nutrient absorption, patients must commit to lifelong vitamin and mineral supplementation, appropriate nutrition, and regular follow-up care.

Dr. Donald Fridley offers advanced bariatric and metabolic procedures for patients throughout Tampa Bay, Hudson, Lutz, and surrounding communities. Schedule a consultation to find out if SADI-S is right for you.
