We hope you all are enjoying your summer vacations with your families!
Whether you travel by foot, bike, car or plane it can be hard to stick to a good nutrition strategy while away from home. Planning ahead is essential and can save you from hitting up fast food when in a pinch. When appropriate, bringing your own snacks is recommended. Be sure to pack something from each food group for better macronutrient balance which ultimately keeps you satisfied longer.
Non-perishable snack ideas:
Nuts, trail mix, nut butter – be sure to get natural or with no added ingredients. Nuts & salt…that’s it!
Beef jerky – we like Paleovalley and Country Archer
Popcorn – Air-popped is best like Skinny Pop
Dried roasted crunchy edamame – Give The Only Bean a try!
Roasted chickpeas – Give Biena a try!
Rice cakes and/or whole grain crackers
Oatmeal in a cup
Protein shakes – New Direction, Orgain, Ensure
Protein bars – Look for high fiber, low sugar bars like New Direction & Lara Bars
